Just added "SimsonSuhl" as the moderator for this forum, 1870-1932.

SimsonSuhl is the editor for the excellent "Military Rifle Journal". We appreciate the help, and the expertise added to this section of the forum.

SimsonSuhl, congrats and thank you. and reminds me that i need to renew my MRJ membership.

Welcome Simson. Couldn't ask for a better moderator for that forum and this site!

SimsonSuhl is having a few tech issues which I am helping to work out.

So- what is your feeling about divinding the 1870-1932 board into two periods- Imperial and Weimar Republic? It will be two smaller forums but very direct research tools.

It would look something like this:

Mauser Rifles 1870-1918 - The Imperial Years
Mauser RIfles 1919-1932 - Weimar Republic
Mauser Rifles 1933-1945 - The Nazi period

I'm going to run it by SimsonSuhl as well.

Thanks for the welcome!

Seems the change work Mike (assuming this actually posts!)

I think a split between 1871-1918 and 1919-1932 is advisable (The Weimar Republic was created in November 1918, actually before the Armistice, however most break it to 1919), as many Imperial era collectors do not collect Weimar era with the same enthusiasm.

I follow 1888-1945 with equal enthusiasm but my favorite period is 1918-1932.

Change in bracket

I am good to go on the separation of the periods. The pullout of the Weimar period makes sense, so why not
go ahead and separate the Imperial section as well. Good ideas.
