M43 style hat questions...?

Alright guys!

Picked up a neat m43 style german hat today. Have a few questions on it. Civilian or military? What unit? Is it wartime or postwar? I'll describe the best I can..

Black wool m43 style with reddish-pink piping on upper rim of hat. No insignia on outer portion of the hat. Inside has a leather type sweat band in the front. Has maker/mfg label in top portion. (described below) No other markings that I can see at this time.

Maker/mfg label sewn in top of hat covered with a diamond shape plastic cover.

"Vehmann-Weinhold oHG."

WEINHEIM/BERGSTR.

also has in a diamond shape-

Ranger, I'm not up on my German civic/admin stuff, but my guess is some form of railroad/water police/fire police hat, likely postwar. This style of hat was very popular wartime and postwar. It's definitely not wartime military.

Concur with Ham, that sweat diamond is a good way to tell, it has the post war vinyl look to it...wartime sweat diamonds were brittle celluloid, and truthfully I never saw one on an M43 style cap, only visor caps...
