Walther PPK with history of the German owner

George R.

Well-known member
This is a pistol I received years ago, as one of the other members wanted to know about researching a name, this one I actually did with a lot of help from another forum member here that was on vacation in Germany and he took time out to get the copies ( gives a idea of what you can expect as far information ). Sorry he was not in famous unit or combat division, just a regular guy who went to work everyday, supervising train engine repairs in a depot, he was a party member ( yes a Nazi ) and later a Volkssturm member when conscripted, he stayed out of all other service due to his job being essential to the war effort. The translation of all his records was done by another forum member, the records you see, were from his trial for a NAZI member. The PPK is pre-war 1938 with a commercial holster, it is a full rig. Very cool, thanks for sharing! It's so rare that names can actually lead to a complete picture like this.

Edit: According to the docs, he was known for his anti-NS attitudes and may have only joined the NSDAP to protect himself from "larger accusations" and, likely, for the doors such membership opened.

Thanks jhv, I saved them. Yes, that is what the hobby should be about and we do have some really great guys on here who will really go out of their way to help. GR

Great post and a great collectable with a documented history - doesn't get much better.

This is what the collecting hobby really is about - sharing/helping each other.

You may have these already but if not, they'd go well with your rig:

BL, it took a lot work, this is the only rig I have like this, if it was not for his name and town inside the holster, well it would not have worked out. Yes I agree that his NSDAP membership definitely help him. GR
