Luftwaffe Cammo Double Decal helmet

This one I got in 1971. The Veteran was a glider pilot. I have his Air Medal, and Purple Heart. He was a veteran of Operation Market Garden (Holland), and the glider and airborne assault across the Rhine, where he did a double tow.. He lived 3 houses from me in Charlotte N.C. His wife had left him in 1970 and in 1971 he took a .22 Remington rifle put it to his temple and took his life.. The children gave me the helmet in late 1971..What is Ironic is that he was originaly from where I live now Concord, N.C., and about 1.5 years ago I met his best friend, that still lived in Concord, and his childhood friend told me, that he still misses him".. Very sad ending to a WW2 vet..

That's what a period camo helmet looks like for sure. Too bad about the vet.....

Fantastic helmet , m35 DD camo at least $3500....Sorry to hear about its previous owner; everyone who goes through war carries all those demons with them until the very end of their existence..
