AC44 with bcd parts

I recently acquired this combat used ac44 K-block that was built with some BCD parts, that I believe were salvaged from BCD after it was bombed in August 1944. The BCD parts are 1 locking lug "Circle V", and the bolt (has the "star" stamped on the face), and I suspect that the front sight is BCD also. The bys 9 44 barrel has a threaded muzzle and the "Ng" stamp, E/359, believed to indicate Walther Werke, Neuengamme. I wanted to share this with the collector community. It also came with the correct buttstock manual, the 2nd edition, and bakelite oiler and spare parts. The time line fits!
Thanks, Titan

That's just pretty neat! Any photos of the rest of the rifle; like the full left and right sides? I think one of my G/K.43's has the star on the bolt head like this one. I can't remember. Mine are ac44's too.

This is interesting. I also have an AC44 K block with the same star and number on the bolt face. Often wondered what that was supposed to mean? There was one other I read about on the now closed G43 forum that had the same mark but don't recall what letter block it was? It does not seem to show up often.
The circle V is interesting too. My AC45 no letter G43 not K43 marked receiver has a circle V firing pin carrier and thought just as you have, could it have been salvaged from Buchenwald? One of the lugs has a circle E. The SN matches the gun so it was not just a replacement part. I know of some other letters in a circle that show up on BCDs, another collector showed me a photo from his BCD with a circle L.
It can drive you nuts trying to figure the odd markings out. Your rifle having both these traits is even more a mystery. Good find!

Nice rifle

I have seen others like this... similar to astrawerke bcd marked receivers being diverted to Sauer. Bcd was primarily an assembler and these parts were diverted to Walther upon on the demise of Bcd. I have personally read the reports of the bombing effect on Buchenwald when I was aiding in research for Backbone of the Wehrmacht. If you see the pictures of the results of the bombing you will understand how few parts could have been transferred.

The star on the bolt face is typically seen on the bottom of BCD bolts. I suspect the other number (only ever saw single digit) is a headspace size number, with the pinned barrel, the headpacing would be more complex to adjust.
