My first G43!..DUV44 4450H

Well I got the fever for a G/K and after a few months searching and bugging the crap out of Darrin Weaver, I finally picked up my fist G43 from him! I looked at about 10 rifles in total, most had sanded stocks, missing cartouches, non matching or missing parts... or had been bubbaed in some fashion. This rifle was advertised as a genuine bring back, it had a repro hood and rod on it and a hairline crack in the hand guard. I've since added a genuine hood, wartime 12.5" rod and a L&F marked sling. I'm pretty happy with it. The rifle has been duffle cut under the barrel band.

Let me know what you think!

I think you did very well, the wood is original and looks great. For some reason stampings on some are light. Where did yo find the sling from??

Very nice pickup! A classic BLM rifle for sure, getting harder to find them these days as you found out. The stock is easily repairable if you decide to put in a shooters kit and take it to the range. If you need the locking pin(s) in the trigger guard repaired, Rob at Apfeltor can do it for you. He did a great job on an AC44 shooter for me last year. Congrats!

I searched the usual sites and finally found one for sale on gunboards.

The pins are there, they move up and down in the bore with spring pressure, but they do not rise up to meet the screws???

Thanks for the input!

I think you did just fine too. Nice looking rifle. There seems to be many with these "reddish colored" stocks. See where we talk about these:

One other thing you need to complete this rifle: You need the spares that go in the butt trap. Manual (the hardest part), firing pin, extractor, firing pin extension piece and something that they could have used to wrap the spares up in. If you do find a nice manual, be careful putting it in and out of the stock as these manuals are very fragile and the wood on the buttstock will grab the paper of the manual and tear it, if not careful. I just keep mine in a plastic baggie and won't put them back in the rifle due to them being so fragile.
