Hei there!
I am a new member from Norway, and with me i bring my Mauser Model98k F1 (and quite a few pictures with it aswell, would be nice to see what i can learn about the rifle, other than the stuff i've guessed upon)

Yes the rifle is re-chambered to take the 30-06 SPRG round, or 7,62*63mm if you like. This was done by the Norwegian army and National Guard after the second world war ended. 30-06 was the standard american caliber at the time, thus most M98k rifles in Norway were chambered in this round. This then lead to making it the most common caliber for hunting. Notice here how

You can see the Norwegian markings "Kal t.62 M/M" beeing stamped into the barrel, which i assume is a new one due to the 30-06 beeing a smaller diameter than the original calibre. Further is the markings "Hær-58431" meaning "Army-58431" The new number given by the Norwegian army after crossing over the German serial/production number. Notice how the 7,62 m/m is double-stamped, like the person doing this didnt do it properly the first time and tried again, more history added to the rifle.

BCD 42, Notice how the eagle markings have been slightly removed, i've seen this on quite a few m98 rifles for sale in Norway, i have no clue why only a small part is removed instead of the whole thing.

Since the 30-06 round is a bit longer than the original 8mm mauser, so a portion had to be removed for it to slide into the internal magazine

Now, i believe all the rifle parts have a matching number, while the bolt have a different one

Locking lugs slightly worn

The back one, not a single mark on it

Front of the bolt, maybe i have to do something to fix it up a bit? it seems rather worn, but works perfectly

I will use the rifle for competetive shooting at a 200m range, with electronic scoring systems for the best accuracy. The mauser might not be the best rifle for this, due to the sights (no quick side-adjusment abilites), but it is very sure a fun rifle to shoot, with alot of history to it, if there is any more that i have missed or gotten wrong, please do explain to me, i love to learn more about the M98k's!

Here is the mauser next to my SigSauer 200, for comparison :happy0180:

And a video of me taking the first 5 shots, i am planning on making a longer video,
