Hello

Here are some pictures of my K98a, it is unfortunately not matching 100% it has a K98K bolt, and a few other things is also not matching. As I can see, it has a waffenamt mark on the stock. When did the start to produce K98a ?

Best Regards
the Dane

Initial production of the model, 1907; year of formal adoption 1908; production terminated 1918.
Is there a pin through the rear sight pivot? (If so should be visible from the top, running across the sighting groove).

Rear sight

as I can see ther are no pin through the rear sight pivot, for me it look like a standard K98K rear sight.

Pretty nice looking rifle, - the "waffenamt" on the stock is actually depot acceptance from HZa Ingolstadt.

They were pretty active with non-standard rifle work, so far no 98k has been recorded (though I am sure they exist) but plenty of Gew.98, Czech, French, and Polish rifles went through this HZa. They also have more than their fair share of P08 sporting their acceptance.

Have you ever looked at the barrel under the handguard? Sometimes they show nazi era work.

no, I have never dismantled the rifle, I will try to do so when I get time for it.
