I hate to ask the question because everyone seems to have a different answer. I'm not looking for what they are 'worth' because everyone chimes in with widely different opinions. I decided to allocate money towards one and want to know how much I am can expect to invest.

I have absolutely no experience with 'snipers' so this would be my first go at it. I am looking for 100% correct, matching, and in 90%+ shape. I'm sure this will likely be the only mauser with optics that I ever get my hands on so I am hoping to make it count.

Thank you for your time

I'd say its been sometime since I've seen one sell. I'd say expect to pay around 3.5-4k

I'd agree on the above quote. You might get lucky and find one for $3000 but probably not much cheaper than that. Sadly from that starting point the price can go anywhere as seen from values actualized on original and cloned snipers on auction sites in the US and UK. Clone snipers are going as high as $4000 and some originals run double that.

Gun Broker has had a few decent ZF41's but lot's of cloned rifles. Be aware that there are several fake CXN scopes out there on the marked and the ZF41 repro mounts are of quite a high quality.

I have two ZF41's:

1. AR 42 RC - Original Scope and Mount which is not matched to the rifle and orginal scope can not matched to the rifle. This project cost me about $2200
2. AR 42 Mis-Matched Bolt - $1500 for the rifle and I am still looking for a matching scope/mount/can

You would also pay a premium if the scope is matched to the can and rifle and those darn cleaning cloths and brushes have a high value as well.

ZF41 scope cans are also faked, and the newer ones if aged are hard to tell from the original. Luckily the faked scope cans missed the small "U" in the commercial logo on the closing latch. Darrin Weaver talked about this missing "U" in "Hitlers Garands" as the fake ZF4 cans are missing the same small "U". The people faking the LSR, HT, ZF41 and ZF4 stamped metal cans took time in making a nice reproduction but with a lack of attention to detail they luckily missed that small "U". I am sure one day they will produce a fake can with the "U" but you are safe for. now.

Rock island auction has an ar 42 with zf 41 listed currently so you can see what they expect to get at auction. "Estimated price $4500. to $6500." Maybe because it might be a correct one. If I was going to bid on that I would want to see a lot more pictures, and I would want to see the dovetail mount on the rear sight.

I have seen them sell for more than $6000 in New Condition . But most $3500 to $5000
like everything else that has to do with Optics it just keeps going up and things will never surprise me price wise for a Correct German Sniper Rifle . Best Regards
