Hi all, been wanting a k98 for over a dozen years. Always turned my nose up until now. Found a sweet, all matching, 42 bnz with a bayonet for 8 bills. I'll post pictures and questions over in the Nazi era forum once I figure out how to create an album. I'm a k98 novice, but a couple things seem strange to me on this rifle I can't find any stock markings on the exterior. Just the matching numbers inside. Is this common? All numbers match with WaA77s and one WaA623 on receiver top. I'm also wondering why it has a WaA280 with a 42 (for the year?) on the front trigger guard screw (ahead of the floor plate)? Also this is supposedly a vet send home. It had a heavy coat of shellac or varnish all over which was a pain to remove. Was that a common presrvation thing they did back in the day? Okay I probably shouldn't babel in this section. Don.

Welcomen hier!
The 42 on the guard screw is the last 2 digets of a rifles ser nr. That and the WaA show that this screw came from a different rifle.
