The finish looks a bit "shiny" in the photos. Perhaps a coating of some sort of finish oil. The dou 44 t block file in the photo reference wont open for me to compare. Later rifles I would expect a rougher, corncob look. Indoor photos can at times be deceptive with flash, so I can't tell for sure. Do you think it was lightly sanded?

Stan- This dou t-block IS the one in the ref section.... but a slight error made when the link was created.
 
I pulled this out of the safe and had another look at it. The stock has not been sanded, all reliefs are crisp and sharp and the W on the wrist is clear. It does have a satin sheen to it but unable to see any coatings, maybe howards feed & wax (IDK what that looks like) 1 coat of BLO?
