WTS: PTR-44(Stg-44) 7.92X33mm SEMI-AUTO RIFLE w/XTRA MAGS, AMMO
THIS IS 1 OF 200 RIFLES MADE FOR THE U.S. MARKET ... IMPORTED BY PTR, INC. AND SOLD THROUGH RECON ORDNANCE. The rifle has had exactly 40 rd.s shot through it to check for functionality. The scope is mounted to the scope mount. The scope mount block on the side of the receiver had to be "hand-lapped" by a professional gunsmith in order for the scope mount to fit properly. Rifle comes with 2 - 30rd. mags. I had the same gunsmith cut one mag down for bench-rest purposes. It is now sized to hold 11 rounds with a wooden spacer for 5 rd.s

4 - extra 30rd. mags that I ordered from a company in Canada in late 2010. No longer available ... there are mags available out of Europe that are "used" and going for around $300.00 U.S.D. plus postage.
(Asking $800.00 for these 4-extra mags)

2 - 1,000rd. cases of PRVI PARTIZAN 7.92X33mm 124gr. FMJ ammo. This is new, boxer-primed, brass cased ammo. (Minus the 40rd.s used for test firing)
grafs.com : $16.99/bx of 20rd.s
targetsports.com : $14.99/bx of 20rd.s

Both distributors are selling the exact same ammo ... and both distributors are "OUT OF STOCK" ... you can put your email address on a "call back" list ... God knows how long that will take.

I'll sell my 98 bx.s of ammo for : $1549.00

All of the above goes as a package deal for the price of : $9,199.00 plus $150.00 to help defray the cost of shipping and insurance. Insurance will be a killer. (I am going to try and use FedEx for shipping purposes)

Please respond to this ad via my email: elumbert2924@wowway.com

Payment will be by Cashiers Check. My business credentials can be checked by contacting the Editorial Staff at Gun Digest Magazine , formerly The Gun List (Edward Lumbert d.b.a. The Specialist 1986~1996)

I saw that add. I can only assume that it's a joke.

BTW, I have a VZ52 pistol for sale......only $1500. I'll even throw in a free box of ammo.

If accurate as to what he says he owns and what he described (and assuming the scope is a Meopta) the rifile, scope, scope mount, mags, and ammo probably didn't run him any more than $8,000 (likely less - even with shipping). However, I have seen the rifle sell with only a sling, and a couple of mags. for over $9,000. So who knows if he'll get it. The problem is these rifles aren't worth it. Anyone with 2 hours of internet research would come to that conclusion. Only the "I JUST HAVE TO HAVE IT !!!" guy is gonna pay that kind of sum for it. Biggest disappointment in a firearm I have ever owned and I've owned 100 different long guns - so far. Mine works (95%), but I will never get that kind of scratch out of it - and I've spent more $ than the above.

Well if one wants the rifle strictly as a collectible it might not be a bad deal, on the other hand if the buyer want's to shoot it he will soon find Himself in a world of pain.

Like it or not this PTR44 has become a highly sought after collectible firearm in the U.S. despite all the warts and if one wants to fix it be prepared to put out another 2K in overhaul costs.

After spending a ton of money on my PTR44 I can now look at it and feel good about it again because it actually works now.

HDH.
