It is an Bavarian Lion, - Amberg rifles are Bavarian, one of the four independent states in Germany after unification (The Imperial German Army was made up of four semi-independent armies, Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony, Württemberg. During war or emergencies they united under the Kaiser, only the German Navy was an "Imperial" force)

The barrel is an early Simson made barrel, - the barrel looks shortened, probably an import from Spain, many were shortened to make them marketable during a time when long German military rifles were as desirable as empty beer cans... the rifle has very little value, but useful pictures!
