ZB26(t) worked this weekend.

Looks fantastic! I also build and rent for film and TV and prefer the stunt guys as well... It seems they're going more airsoft to save money, and step around the legal hassles here in CA IMO.. Recently did a western with converted black powder and the blanks looked great!

Glad the actress worked out and she looks great rocking that ZB!

Yes, on the whole - the set-armorer position is going the way of the negative cutter.

You're right though, Western firearms and black powder in general is much tougher to fake with VFX though.

Indeed... Another cost saver when using toy guns. Though people here in CA don't realize you still need a holder of the firearms entertainment certificate if you have toys without orange/red muzzles on set. Back to your point about the western guns. I had flash n smoke rounds that got me a high five from the VFX artist. For what he quoted, he was having fits just thinking about animating the smoke! LOL

I am looking forward to using my FG42 from SMG on an feature later this year... Got her dialed in at the last battle I attended.

EFP + DWP (AW+MG) + FFL in CA
On top of these papers (kept in plastic covers) I have details on each firearm separated in the same folder, serial number and color photograph, one line description.
Certainly a lot easier working in NM, AZ and NV, but CA has been good to me.

Good luck finding a paying-movie-gig for a second model FG42 - Band of Brothers did about the only one I can think of :)
My dream has been to make a version of the Abruzzo raid, which was first model FG42 - but, researching it, discovered only one round was fired by an FG42 and that was by accident. I had a company in Asia make me some first models out of resin, when I was actively raising financing (shown above a Shoei second model.)

PF - edit - they had an FG42 at the very beginning of The Eagle has Landed, carried by British Stuntman Jim Dowdell, I asked him about it - he said it was a real one that Bapty unearthed somewhere, even at the time of filming, it was a serious collectable.

Excellent.. Same set up here save for the DWP, that's next... Aging parents put a lot of things on the back burner...

The two projects I did up in WA/OR the guys brought their own CL 3 MGs. I did a WW2 grindhouse style film and they want to do another with more Fallschirmjagers and we'll use the live 2nd model and my shoei's for B/G. If you go forward with your Sasso film, I know a guy with a flying Storch replica.

Even though the 2nd model was more like the official production version, I wish SMG had done the first model since it was earlier. I'll get a 1st model when they get around to it. I remember that scene from Eagle! As a kid my WW2 film buffs and I loved weapon spotting! Great story about Jim..

There's a post war set film with an embassy take over in Germany... has a shot of a ZF4 equipped G/K 43...

Sounds like a good plan to get the FG42's on film -

I pursued the film for a little while, but, the subject matter didn't resonate with any of the crowd I hit.
You have to move on to projects that have a better chance, it may come back around.
If it does, I would be very happy to meet your friend.

Project we're breaking down at the moment has a mounted DSHK on a slider, shooting from the back of an SUV - I will have to rent the one ISS have (with their specialist), it's actually an M2 with a DSHK barrel but it has been customized very well.
Their .50's run very nicely, but at $5 a blank, gotta have your angles planned carefully - it is a really fun scene!

Ref: ZB26 internal markings - a question to any experts here - does a back to front swastika denote the Nanking Arsenal in China?
