Otto Carius
Otto Carius was a German tank ace within the German Army who fought during World War II and was credited with destroying more than 150 tanks. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves.

Receiving his Ehrenpokal

Heavily decorated Luftwaffe pilot Siegfried Fischer receiving his Ehrenpokal, t was officially known as the Ehrenpokal “für besondere Leistung im Luftkrieg”, or Honor Goblet “For Special Achievement in the Air War”. The award was given only to flying personnel (pilots and aircrew). Recipients’ named were published in the periodical Ehrenliste der Deutschen Luftwaffe (Honor List of the German Air Force). German archives indicate that approximately 58,000 were given “on paper”, but only 13-15,000 goblets were actually awarded according to the record.

During his career he flew 713 missions, during which he was credited with the destruction of 80 tanks, and 15 aerial victories.[Notes 1] Siegfried Fischer was captured by Soviet troops in April 1945 and was held captive until September 1946.
