I have an RC laminated cupped buttplate stock with what appears to be a "C" stamped in front of the trigger guard under the forearm. Wondering if this is a stock makers mark, indicates replacement stock or russian rework mark.?

The stock has been sanded and the only other marks visible are a letter "S" and serial number 7523 in the barrel channel... The bolt cutout appears to follow a Gustloff style stock.

Any insight appreciated...

The "c" stamp is a Gustloff stamp. Its hard to see in the pics, its usually a small and roundish c I believe.

Agree... However, the Gustloff C us usually stamped on the underside of the stock towards the heel of the stock. It looks like a Gustloff mark... Just a different placement than I have seen....

I've seen RC's with different letters and numbers stamped up there- thats probably what it is.

Thank you, mystery solved... I suspected it being an RC marking... Just wanted to make sure...
