I have been reading the book Sturmgewehr because I want to kit out my SSD STG 44 and MKb42(h).
Which parts should be in the butt stock on both models?
Which parts should be in the spare parts bag on both models? And
Should you have a spare parts bag in both the butt stock and the magazine pouch?
To make things more difficult, things changed each manual and whenever they changed the designation of the sturmgewehrs which seemed to have been done almost quarterly for various reasons.
Thank you

There are two spare firing pins currently for sale on estand at the WAF. I already bought the extractor parts kit (extractor, spring, extractor pin) though... :biggrin1:

The little rod with the notch really only serves two purposes...
1). Slide it through the hole on the gas plug and unscrew it for cleaning.
2). The end with the small notch is used to insert into a hole at the front of the handguard and allow the guard to be pulled free of the barrel, again for cleaning.
Most of the repros have the notch milled too narrow and will not properly "hook" the hole in the handguard because the holes are punched and the flashing behind the hole is too deep. If the notch is not at lease 1/16" wide or better, stay away from them. These can store in the buttstock or in mag pouches...
