Wather Sportmodell

Here is a Sportsmodell I purchased a couple of days ago.

It is complete with the exception of the rod, rod retainer nut and the metal ring on the handguard.

It has a beautiful stock and metal on it with two small flaws: some green paint on the checkering of the triggerguard and worn bluing on nose band.

Looks like I am getting some help on the rod and retainer nut, both detailed photographs and dimensions, so I can get fabricated. Many thanks.

Been a good week, picked up a nice named luft m40 helmet, complete and also a jwh 42 k98 bayonet, matching.

great rifle. The missing parts should be easy to find and make. I will get you Richard windsor's mailing address and the demensions of the stacking rod. It's amazing the stock end cap did'nt get lost.

Yes, Walther made some stunning rifles.... A nice one...

Hey, have some extra rods & nuts made as these are in demand!
I could use a set...

Very nice rifle!

I just scanned a period advertisement of this model and clipped it below along with an imperfect translation.

As pointed out in the thread reached by the link above, the first appearance in 1926 of the action/barrel configuration of the Sportmodell and other derivative rifles freatured a 62cm barrel length and a bolt with no wing safety as is shown in the one above. I have a report of an early Walther Sportbuchse with an unknown style recessed safety on the left side.
