Interesting marking on a late mauser dsm34

I saw this one while trolling on line. The rifle is a basket case but, I have never seen this mark before..Maybe the owner or a retailer ???? thoughts?? Actually, it's not that bad. Basket case was a little harsh. Honest rifle with a duffle cut. Late MO rifle in elm.. Lots of wear.

Heinrich Fettkotter is apparently a gunsmith and/or retailer. I found several sporting shotguns and rechambered Gew98's with his name stamped on them. There was also a 6mm JGA Anschutz trainer with this same mark on the auction block.

It looks like he didn't modify or rechamber this DSM, so I'd guess he sold these commercially and added his mark.

these are the more common even though they are not common Ways retailers marked their products with a hallmark.. One is a stock disc and the other is a stock stamp.
The later is a Simson 625b with 3 stamps on the bottom of the stock.

Ok but these marks are not post war??

These rifles were available commercially pre-1945. As M99 stated, they were more often marked in the wood than the metal. Here is a Walther DSM-34 that was evidently sold thru the firm "Fried. Jac. Bartels" in Wiesbaden.
