The MG34 were the standard MG of the norwegian homeguard until around 1994. Then they got MG3's. That's 60 years of service!
There were 3 versions:
MG34 : original German 8mm version.
MG34 f1 : 30 - 06 calibre
MG34 f2 : 7,62 Nato
The reworks were not as popular as the original, because of many malfunctions. This was due to badly fitting of new made parts, like extractors. They needed some extra work to function properly. At the end of their service life, they were also very worn.
