Unit Marked Gear??

Bob in OHIO

Senior Member
I guess some gear was still unit marked in '36 or so??

Here's an ammo pouch with one unit x'ed out, and another unit stamped in the other.
It seems the active unit is still different from the one that's embossed.
The solder's name is inked in the center compartment too,
but not readable.

Nice pouch!

I love unit marked gear....I have some puches unit marked, a few bayonet frogs, a back pack marked to an artillery unit, a pair of summer weight motorcycle gauntlets marked to an anti0tank unit, and some other items I believe...I think they still were doing some unit markings well past '36....probably at the discretion of the unit...

I'll have to try to get some pics....

My contribution - a KS98 frog from a Pioneer unit.

Found this 37' dated belt and buckle in a antique shop in Kingman Arizona last year. I was pleased to find out the belt and buckle is marked to a Luftwaffe radar trainings school. The buckle was made by RS&S, the tab is LBA marked and made by 'R.SIEPER & SOHNE*LUDENSCHEID' with a unit marking of 'Ln.Sch.Vers. Abt. 7 Fl.Komp.' which translates to 'Luftnachrichten Schule Versuchs Abteilung 7 Flieger Kompanie'. The belt is also unit marked with a makers mark of 'MAX KOBERSTEIN LANDSBURG/WARTH'

Thanks for the info Peter....I have the English published "German WWII Order of Battle", both volumes, which is exhaustive in it coverage, and is a wealth of info for individual units...I use them often!

Good website to bookmark too!

GEWEHR 98, marked 104 Coll Co.

I have a 1916 Amberg Gewehr 98 that is stamped "104 Coll. Co." on the stock, next to the brass unit marking disk. But it has no marking on the brass marking disk.

Any idea what "104 Coll Co" is?
