There was a M45 combat boot that replaced the two buckles but very late. These normally had eleven eyelets for the laces.Army contract and Corcoran made jump boots had 12 eyelets, half sole and beveled heels.Besides the capped toe jump boots also had white webbing internally stitched into the boot on either side of the ankle for support.Any markings in the top of the boot???Possible they were private purchase also. Many companys had taller boots for purchase like LL Bean,Abercrombie and Fitch etc. Also common to have a half sole place on a boot when repaired.
The british officers also had a tall boot but Im not very familiar with those.
