gew98

nice rifle and it looks familiar..not sure if you picked it up recently or I saw one with the same type checker'd bases. I also saw a rare 1918 disc type front mount and pin rear at a show this weekend, no optics and the guy wanted 2 grand

Gew 98 sniper rifle

Hi
I had this sniper for about 4 months. One of the members on this site was kind in selling me the rings for the scope i bought. This is the first time that i posted pictures.
regards
Bob

Just out of curiosity...was the accuracy any better on the GEW98s vs the k98's due to the extra barrel length...?

Any stats on that..?

Accuracy of a gew sniper

Hi
I have no proof but i belive aGew 98 sniper rifle or a standard Gew 98 with a 29 inch barrel will be more accurate then a Gew 98a or a WW11 98k mauser with a 23 inch barrel. Also with the longer barrel more powder will burn more and there will be more velocity and less flame. Also less kick.
WW11 the Germans were thinking of using longer barrels again over the standard length, but it did go pass testing.
Regards
Bob
