Phosphate Byf 44 L block

Here's some shots of one of my Byf 44s. It's an L block and the barreled receiver and floorplate/triggergaurd are phosphated. The bolt is mainly blued with a phosphated extractor and cocking piece. Also interesting is that the serial number is penciled in the stock channel. This rifle is one of my favorites.

Careful- phosphateitus is very contagious. Once you get it, rust blue is possibly the only known cure (nobody knows for sure, as there are not cured cases of phosphateitus).

I've been afflicted with this disease for a little over a year now....

great rifle -- great phosphate! i used to think that MO only started phosphating recievers in '45 but Bruce straightened me out on that. then i picked up byf 44 81916 L that looks very much like yours. phosphate reciever, blued bolt. also interesting because it has a "C" stock and an Astrawerke bolt so it looks for all the world like a late gustloff. is yours a MO stock or C?

Unfortunately, I dont know if the stock is MO or Gustloff. I cant find any exterior markings. I can tell you that my bolt is an Astrawerke piece as well, so it would not surprise me if the stock is Gustloff.
