While doing some images of a 1924 Simson 98b, this sight ramp was on the rifle- no doubt updated to S.s. Patrone ramp from S Patrone ramp? Note the "S 147 R" marking. Of course 147 code is for J.P. Sauer, but the "S" (which looks like a G) is typically used by Walther on parts made by them for Sauer. Lastly, the "R" is the date code- according to Michael Heidler's book a German document shows the "R" to be 1929!
So, this would apparently be a part made by Walther, sourced from J.P. Sauer into the ordnance system, and done in 1929 (seems incredibly early if it is, but thats what it says). The E/116 inspection is typical for early Suhl/Zella-Mehlis region (along with E/49, E/114, and E/115).
