late mauser kkw d.f. marked

this is one of the two late mauser kkw's along with two k98's. I bought from a guy in texas from his uncle's estate. All the rifles had some issue but all were repairable. This one was duffle cut between the bands and the end was lost. I was able to graft a stock end on and restore the gem. Both were nearly flat new less the stock issues. Both had their original sight hoods and lower bands and hand guards.
This version uses the k98 rear sight base and sight hood.

Very nice work and rifle.

So the front of the stock was replaced? So is that bayo lug from a 98 or KKW?
Front band a Gustloff KKW maybe?

Yep..

I cut the stock back under the lower band. Then I graphed an end piece from a teak m48a stock I had that I thought I would die with. The color match is almost perfect. This piece of walnut really has a reddish color to it. The upper band and bayolug are 98k type parts. I was very happy how it came out..The other has a light stock and I'm having more problems matching that one..
