Wow ... :faint:

How the heck are we going to get new collectors into the hobby and particularly enjoying the collecting of K98k's, if they're going to be faced with having to be expert enough to sort out the real pieces with provenance from the garbage produced from stamps like this?

Thank heaven for the folks writing *new* books and providing sites like this so the plain newbies (or sophomores like me) have some way of spending hard earned dollars on only legitimate pieces.

As usual Hambone, thanks for the heads up ..... :tea:

Are we going to have a separate humper forum here and are we going to be permitted to publish links to ongoing "questionable" auctions, so we can ensure fellow collectors don't get burnt?

Regards,
Doug

Edit: NM about humper forum ... just saw this link ... http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread.php?322-Turd-alerts :)

There was a large find of original E/135 stamps of all sizes found in the sewers under Mauser Oberndorf. There are plenty of these in German collections from what I gather- I know someone that has one, but his is rusty and can't be used for faking stuff. I'd say the guys that have them wouldn't use them either- the repros can be made exactly the same anyway.
us.

Die stamps

There was a large lot of original Mauser Oberndorf WaA stamping tools found in the sewer in Oberndorf some years back and all these were original of course. The bulk of these are held privately and will not be circulated amongst the collecting community. Also, the construction of these reproduction stamps is not the same - ie. depth and angle of the die, etc.

Given this though, we see increased use of these stamps and thankfully, to date - poor application.

USED BUT IN GOOD CONDITION, PRODUCTION YEAR UNKNOWN, SUBCONTRACTOR CODE "N10" ON THE SIDE.

SIZE OF THE STAMP IS ABOUT 2.5 x 5.5 mm

PLEASE SEE PICTURES FOR CLOSE-UP DETAILS AND

BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR BID.

Look how he claims n10 is a Sub-contactor code on his Numerich stamp. Ive reported ebay that he is lying in his ad and sent them the website where he is buying them, but nothing has been done.
He's been listing one after another for months now and has deleted his pictures of the side of the stamp where it says in big letters "GUN PARTS CORP" he obviously realized he can get triple the price of what he was getting before by leaving out that its a repro from Numerich and GunParts Corp is written clearly on the side.
His first stamp sold for 70.00 when he put in his ad that its from GunPartsCorp and showed a pic of "GPC" written on the side. but every stamp after that has sold for 175.00+ up to 270.00 when he decided to leave out it is a repro and choze selective wording to absolve him from any cases that may be opened for not as described

Another Fake Stamp?

I recently bought an MP40 mag pouch with accessories. I thought it was either a WWII German or Post War military pouch, but then again it could be a fake.

One tell tale sign may be a stamp found on one of the leather straps. I thought it was a commercial maker code (WWII or Post War), but a member on another forum recognized it as a SS Rune Stamp commonly found on SS Police Daggers (See pics below).

So there are a few options, some more credible than others:

1. The SS Police marked their MP Pouches
2. Someone faked the SS stamp and enhanced a Fake/Post War/WWII pouch
3. Someone found an original SS stamp and enhanced a Fake/Post War/WWII pouch

The interesting thing is that the seller didn't mention the stamp. Usually people who sell fake kit "highlight" fake markings as markings can bring premium prices. I had to examine the pouch very carefully to even find it.

Then again the seller could have bought it from someone who faked it or even the previous seller could have added the stamp.

Nevertheless, if it is a fake stamp collectors need to be aware of it. I have never seen a previous fake example.

WWII WW2 Canadian Broad Arrow Equipment Rubber Stamp

During WWII and after many Canadian military clothing, diving gear, radio, aircraft components and equipment items were stamped with the Canadian Broad Arrow inspectors/ownership stamp. This is a very accurate reproduction Canadian Broad Arrow inspectors rubber stamp in 1/2 inch diameter. The Canadian Government typically marked diving gear, aircraft components, vehicle components, clothing, dive helmets, containers and such with the classic stamp. This stamp can be used an unlimited number of times with either black or white inks to mark any clothing or equipment items with the Broad Arrow stamp. This stamp can also be used to mark leather items if used with white ink.

Depending on the amount of inking applied to the stamp prior to application, different vintage/faded looks can easily be obtained. Application instructions are included.

These stamps are made in California USA using the highest quality components and are mounted on a beautiful cherry wood handle. I am confident we have the most accurate and highest quality military rubber stamp products available and promise that you will be very satisfied with this item or you will receive a refund.
