Hello,

That's in great shape, thanks for sharing.

Any images of the Amberg 1917?

They are rather rare in this condition, but you see worthless ones on occasion. I think the early 1915 variation (it has no leather and is riveted to the qr) is scarcer, only know of 3 or 4, and these about twice that many, but they are super hard to find in good condition.

Images of an 1915 variation. The leather ends version is later, and come in several different styles. The Kar98a version is even more elusive, of this type.

BTW, this sling came on a attic find in Utah, a 1914/15 MO 1st block... both are owned by another collector.

The woven paper jobs are even tougher to find.

Heard of them but never have seen one.

One came on one of my G98 snipers. It's the only one I've seen.

I would love to see the paper cloth version! And the sling shown by Wolfgang is very nice and hard to find, thanks for posting it.

Welcome TP, great to see you came over for a visit!

I would also very much like to see one of the woven paper slings, maybe we can all chip in and get CB a camera!

The paper slings only had a chance to survive the years as a war souvenir.
Never seen one over here.
A fellow collecor told me that he got a web sling made of three layers. I'll try to get some photos.
Thanks
Wolfgang

Wolfgang, that would be great and we will enjoy seeing it if you can.

Paul, I come here quite a bit but just don't have much to add to the excellent discussion. It's a great place. :hail:

got this one out of ebay-Germany for less than expected.
It has not arrived yet. These are the auction photos.
Enjoy.
