Elm use in MKB42(H)/ MP43 / MP43/1 and MP44 butts

S/42

Thunda from down unda
As some know, I am trying to "liven up" a Shoei replica (BRILLIANT, absolutely brilliant) with genuine parts. I acquired an MP43 rear sight, butt cross pin and a complete butt with the bracket.

The butt is most assuredly EARLY MP43 in my opinion - possibly even late MKb42(H) - HOPEFUL - based on it's features, and it is ELM, not walnut (and most assuredly NOT laminate). Question: was the use of elm in Mp43 production fairly concurrent with use in Kar98k's (42 and 43)? COULD an MKb42(H) have used an elm butt originally, or ONLY walnut?

It's NOT cheap (nor is the replica!) but it is THE only chance I will get (as importing even deactivated MG's into Australia is illegal for an individual), so it's going to get as many real bits as I can find.

Here's a pic of the butt:

MP Stocks....

Don't want you to get to lonely down there.... Here's some photos of the early and later stocks for the MP43/MP44 series. Smaller of the two when viewed from the butt end is the later type, changed so it would fit in a vehicle rifle rack.
