Check Out This Serial Number!!!!

Those photos have been up for a while. I vaguely remember it being offered for sale. Anyway, unfortunately that bolt handle is not correct/matching.

Here are pix borrowed from the Canadian site showing the humped up bolt in jhv 41 serial number 1a. Not only has the flat been buffed out smooth, notice how the patina found on the bolt handle/ball is no longer present on the flat. When you compare the flat to the handle/ball on correct, original bolts you will notice that the patina will be similar.

All in all still a good looking rifle.

Pretty hard to get past the abortion of a bolt in it. I'm going to post some pix of a correct "a" block jhv 41. Note how the bolt flat is actually blued and matches the condition of the rest of the rifle. jhv 41 serial number 1a has a bolt flat which has been machined/buffed smooth. Also understand that being serial number 1a doesn't mean the rifle was the first manufactured. jhv 41 production started with serial number 1 and ran all the way to 9999 (or 10000 depending on what one believes) before going to serial number 1a in the first letter block. So, this rifle isn't some super early test piece on which strange serializing of parts was okay. We have seen earlier rifles (i.e. no block rifles) and they aren't numbered on the ball of the bolt handle.

Another example from the "c" block of jhv 41. Again, note the appearance of the bolt flat.
