Thought I'd share some of photos of an IDF K98k 308 sniper bought some time ago. The rifle is newly refurbished & fitted with a NIMROD 6x40 rangefinding scope. The mounts & large wheels remind me of the ones on the FN49's. Haven't come across a setup like this previously.

Is this the original stock?
I thought these IDF FN Herstal Made sniper rifles had a kind of plastic cheekpiece.

Have you tested it at the range?

The earlier 4x Wild scoped snipers had a screw-on fibroglass cheekpiece because the scopes are offset. They didn't bother with the cheekpiece on this later Nimrod example because the scope is directly over the bore. There were about 6 of these for sale about 3 years ago & they were all the same.

No I haven't had it to the range yet.

Thank you. I didn't know this later version, only the early version with a Wild scope.

Your stock seems to have a lighter color than the usual first version also.

What is the serial number of your rifle?

The earlier sniper stocks were FN made walnut(?). These later ones are the standard IDF made beech stocks used on most of their restocked
K98k's. Serial # is 632430 which is a lot later than the Wild models. Unfortunately I didn't record the serial #'s of the other Nimrod models but they were about in the same range.

The Wild version was produced into the 200232 to 200731 range, with 498 made, but you already know that, I'm sure.
