Hacked by nr_elove. That guy is pretty well known. His ip is in Saudi Arabia as a cover. I just can't understand why he/she would go after this forum?

Guys,
The recent hacker attack was not directed at the forum per se. The hacker used a weakness in the CGI scripts on servers that use CPanel, which is the panel used on the server side to make changes to the directory. This CGI script attack was more or less just a redirect, and didn't affect the root folders of the forum. From what my provider says CPanel is aware of the vulnerability and repairing it- our forum was not the only one attacked in this way, it was worldwide and across the spectrum of sites. If you do research on CGI script hackers you will find a lot of information about them, it's one of the biggest vulnerabilities out there. Hackers do this type of thing for fun, like we collect 98k's. This particular hacker is quite busy on the internet.
These type of incidents happen- usually they are caught and fixed before you ever know about them (hence continuous updates). We just happen to be on a server that was attacked in an initial round of attacks using this exploit, and our forum is perfectly safe. We actually have some good security for the forum itself, but server side attacks are impossible for me to control (and are quite rare actually for boring stuff like we do). The reality is NO system is 100% safe from a good hacker.
