Did any of the 1944 bayonets have rivets holding on the scales? If they did was it maker specific?

I see in the pics there is a 44 asw with riveted grips. My 44 asw also has riveted grips, was this common to asw 44 bayonets? Did asw also use screws for the grips? Did any other maker use rivets?

asw became sgx ...the codes for the maker EF Horster... they used flat rivet grips in 44 as asw then as sgx and into 45 as sgx

in 1944 cvl, the code for the maker WKC, used round rivets on the grips

Archie and Miles those are some killer blades. I was always too busy going after the rifles to pay much attention to the bayos. My loss as they have interesting variations.

Good post......

Miles......I look forward to owning your bayos soon after the birth of your 14th child....LMAO

I believe there is 17 for 1944, ffc is F. Herder a late war commercial would look good in that collection.

Hello Turbo Archie, thanks for details Yours is late k block which should be with light color wood, so maybe only dyed the grips with red color? You should compare the grips with the Arnaud bayonet side.best regards,Andy

Maybe yes maybe not, i dont like the structure of wood, is dont look like nut wood. But certainly it could be only dyed. best regards.Andy

The grips aren't red, they are light.

And I think the $600 was for his "grey ghost" a dark clv44 (it was nice)

The WKC with late frog might have only been $500...

Both were *new*

The E F Horster late war bayonets coded asw and later sgx that are riveted will all have phenolic grip scales.

The 1944 dated cvl bayonets with rounded rivets will have wood grips. There is also a series of very late war commercial WKC marked bayonets with riveted phenolic grip scales.

My thoughts only ......

Here is a bad picture of the 17 different makers. If I ever get a new camera, I'll try to post closeups.

Denny,

Thanks my friend for the warm welcome. You are quite correct in regard to the content of this forum. Outstanding. As is the reference book that got the forum going! Although work and other issues have impacted some of my activities, I'm still out there and collecting late war German small arms/bayonets/misc, Volkssturm, and of course the rg34 cleaning kits. And yes, still working on the rg34 reference book.

Thanks again and nice pic of the 44 dates - Lance O. Adams .....
