Good news and bad news.
G: By June this MP44 will be mine
B: Due to gun laws in my country it has to be held by a dealer.
G: I can try to obtain a Museam or Delears license, if successfull I can obtain it.
G/B: If not, I can have the dealer donate it to a museam in exchange for tax reciept or the dealer can consign the rifles (we share profits) or the dealer makes it into a parts kit  and I can keep everything except the upper reciever.
G: At $2500, either way it wasn't a bad deal, even if it ends up a parts kit.

One thought is to take as many parts as possible and to "pimp-up" my SSD BD44 (butt stock, hand guard, grips, etc).
Second thought is to swap out as many parts as possible and I could still donate the MP44 reciever with SSD parts to the museum and possibly have a SSD with several MP44 parts.

Any thought on parts compatiblilty?

I hate the thought of chopping up a rifle like this, but it is already a converted auto (already messed with).

Thoughts on the finish? Original? Or post war East German?

Before people ask, I cannot export this rifle to the US.

Hi agentcq,
My MP44 and the one that you show are nearly brothers ! Only 5 numbers separated !

It seems that your MP44 is like parkerized recently.
Before taking a decision, I would look if it's a matching rifle, bore is in good condition, parts, buttstock, ...

I wish you that all ends well.
Antoni.

That is very neat and probably both rifles were finished the same day.

I agree that yours is original finish, which means that the one I will be getting was re-pakerized at some point.

Cheers
