Since it looks like our WWII collectors are too shy to show their gems, the true collectors (WWI) have to start showing off.

Collecting German WWI scopes seems to be a never ending story. Way too many variations!

There was an A-G Hahn scope in an auction here in UK recently (see poor pics). Was complete with case and rubber OG and ocular pieces but ocular piece was taped up. Was difficult to fully gauge condition in particular tube pitting from poor pics so I bid accordingly and lost, sold for 360 plus auction commission.

The scope was marked to Gew 4565

Well, not a bad price. Did the container match the scope?

It is nice to find such stuff in untouched condition, but I like the "bee there" condition more.
All that brand new equipment/rifles/uniforms from the wars (WWI and WWII) has never been to the front lines. Never done what it was made for. :biggrin1:

Sorry did not find out if case was matching and description did not specify, I only found out about auction night before and no time to ask further questions, just managed to get late bid in.

Scope and carrying case look to be Dr.W.Gerard type.

Hi Bob

You can see from the rings pinch screw gap that you have to big a scope in the rings. The Gerard is a 27 mm diameter tube and the Emil Busch Visar 2 3/4 scope 26 mm diameter. You quite often see the Busch scopes on E-Bay & E-Gun minus their rings so perhaps a replacement is in order?

While we are on the subject of Busch Visar 2 3/4 scopes anybody got a spare ocular lens or a dog body parts scope that has good undamaged ocular lenses that will part with?
