Not sure what to make out of these serials. The "2" is stamped in different font. Maybe a mistake by the employee who stamped the serial#, that was not corrected. With all the brass parts, these scopes were not late war made. Put together from remaining parts after the war? Probably not.
My guess: the correct serial#s are 23(8)680 and 23(8)683 or 2386(8)0 and 2386(8)3.
When I looked at these serials first, my first impession was that one of the "8" was stamped incorrectly.

Well, it might be a Reichswehr period sniper scope, but I have some concerns. It would be the one and only pre WWII scope with acceptance markings on the mount. In WWII only LSR, ZF4 and ZF41 mounts bear an acceptance stamp (WaA). Prior WWII you do not find any acceptance markings on the mounts.

If I remember right CB had a sniper rifle that had similar acceptance stamps. Maybe he can chime in.
