Good evening gentlemen.

I have acquired a Norwegian M1894 bayonet, but require the help of you folks. To narrow down, the product year of the model. Having seen other versions of this bayonet, I figure it to be produced under German Occupation, somewhere. As it does not carry the Krag Jørgensen signature "K" with a crown. Instead, it has a three letter insignia, that is entwined together. I think it says: "DML", but I cant be sure. However, the production number can be seen on the knife.

Strangely enough, this knife was obtained from a Tuareg soldiers corpse, in the Franco-Algerian war. My father served in the French Foreign Legion. Any ideas how it could have made its way down there? Is there a possibility, that it might have been used by a soldier in the Africa Corp?

This is

Norwegian M-1 Modified 1894 Bayonet

Modification of the 1894 Krag to allow the bayonet to fit the M-1 carbine done about 1956. The modification included welding a muzzle ring on top of the handle and attaching a canvas frog with wire belt attachment to the scabbard. Heavily blued overall. Typically has all original inspection markings and serial numbers on the bayonet. Overall length is 336mm and the blade is 215mm. The muzzle ring diameter is 22mm.
