Stock marking reference?

Is there a reference with info on stock markings identifying manufacturers? JL

There is no book to identify stock acceptance, the closest thing is a German book "Handbuch Deutscher Waffenstempel auf Militär- und Diensthandwaffen 1871-2000" by Wacker & Görtz

Imperial rifles are not so easy to identify by acceptance alone, most of the manufacturers had several inspectors working at the same time and you can find up to 3 or 4 different inspector marks on a Gewehr98. Worse, it gets even more confusing during the war when the arsenals supplied components to other firms, this adds additional acceptance stamps to certain components.

I have tried to resolve this by trending patterns of documented rifles, this is not a perfect solution because so few rifles are factory original and are documented thoroughly (imaged by their owners clearly enough to record acceptance patterns).
