I snagged this bayonet at a local antique mall. It's a matching jwh44 (Staatliche Waffenfabrik, Chatellerault, France) in about as nice a condition as you could hope to find. When I was actively collecting '44 date K98 bayonets this was one that had always eluded me , not even a bedraggled mismatch. This one came with a mounted frog marked enn/43 , the code for Alois Grull, Taschner, Wien 75. Here are some pics.

I picked up one of these also. Total luck at a flea market. With Frog and matching scabbard. I never realized it was made in occupied france until joining the k98 collectors group.

Wish that the antique stores/malls around where I live had stuff like that. Think I need to move.

Great piece Len and not at all an easy maker to find for 1944. Or even a nice matching 1943 for that matter. I have always liked these occupied France made examples. Note the sloppy attachment of the frog stud plate on the obverse of the scabbard. Lots of brazing material discoloration, slag, and spatter that was never cleaned. This is almost always observed on Staatliche made pieces in the last letter block or two of 1944. At this point they were just proofing them and sending them out the door. My thoughts only ......
