I heard that the Yugo government gifted a bunch of STG44's to Gaddafi and other northern African dictators. Maybe these are some from that batch?

That's incredible. Tossed about in a conex like scrap. I remember seeing a pic of some fellow in Pakistan or somewhere who had them lined up all around the inside of his compound.

Wow....I was trying to see if I could see codes....amazing horde.

We collect these things, they don't.

After the battle of the bulge, most of the tanks that were left behind in the Ardennes were scraped to, simply sold for the value of the scrap metal.

better idea

We collect these things, they don't.

True.....but there is one thing that both of us do collect...M-O-N-E-Y....If they had any idea fo their value they would sell them for cash and go by 3 times as many ak-47s,,,,aint gonna happen....but it should.

Oh I bet some of them know, they have the internets too. The problem is getting them here. Lots of regulations, etc. etc., along with the logistics of transporting them out of a civil war zone across borders in that region. So, if you can get them into Jordan or Egypt, then what? When it's all final and a new regime is in place, maybe some chopped parts.

STG44 spotted in use by Syria rebel, wonder if he has ammo? I don't see any extra mags.

There is another disturbing video on the net of the rebels haphazardly throwing STG44's into the back of a pick-up truck.

My bet is there was crated up Czech remarked ammunition as well. I wouldn't bet those fellows would have more than a mag or two of ammunition, then after that it's a throwdown. Makes me a bit queezy thinking about piles of Stg.s like that.

Another Syrian man with STG

Jakes, that fellow looks like he's examining that rifle from an "enthusiast" standpoint. From his gear and appearance he looks like he could be a pro or semi-pro. Thanks for the pic.

"As for the Sturmgewehr itself, it remained in use with the East German Nationale Volksarmee with the designation MPi.44 until it was eventually replaced with variants of the AK-47 assault rifle. The Volkspolizei used it until approximately 1962 when it was replaced by the PPSh-41. Other countries to use the StG 44 after World War II included the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic[SUP][18][/SUP] and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia,[SUP][19][/SUP] where units as the 63rd Paratroop Battalion were equipped with it until the 1980s,[SUP][20][/SUP] when the rifles were ultimately transferred to Territorial Defense reserves or sold to friendly regimes in the Middle East and Africa."

I think it is truly amazing. Just like the Spanish, and Israeli K98k rifles. Someday, if our government hopefully loosens regulations on Automatics (In 1,000,000 years) then we might own a few of these. I think it is history in the making for these guns.
