Next up is the W.K.C. commercial bayo. This one is numbered 87 on the blade and scabbard. Other than the number, the only marking on the piece is the W.K.C. lightly stamped on the blade reverse. If you have one, let's see it.

I've heard that the small two digit serial numbers (usually added to blade, scabbard, and flashguard) indicates it cycled through a depot for repair. I don't know if that is actually the case or not.

I've heard that too, but thought that applied more to military issued pieces. JMHO....
As I mentioned, I don't know jack about these commercial bayonets, so you may be right!

Here are a couple of mine....no proofs or numbers.

Weyersburg, Kirschbaum & Co.

Forgot I had this. Denny, I hope you don't mind that I post it here (deep-six the post, otherwise). I don't know anything about these, but I'm presuming that this is also a commercial WKC. No numbers and the blade looks like it had been blued.

I believe the numbers were added by units to differenciate a unmarked bayonet, the first one looks like 43 production, the second one is probably a 44 production, i have too some WKC one early unmarked and some late production, with numbers or without. The last one looks like early 40ies production, my similar piece has 809 on blade.
