Greetings

Just picked up this Single Decal M18 helmet up, my question is why have the air vents been replaced with liner rivets, has anyone ever see this before? Look forward to hearing your thoughts thanks.

PS It also has a 1943 dated liner.

An unusual reissue modification. I guess they felt that the bare hole left by the lug removal looked better and more finished with the liner rivets. The decal appears to be Ed Strache.

What M45 said. I've seen that modification but it is not usual. That's original IMHO. Neat helmet.

nice

not that it needs to be said again but. I just saw it and love it !! never seen one like it.. very un-common for the ventlugs to be removed.
I have seen m16/17 shells with the chinstrap lugs removed and even that isnt common. Id like to see more !! Did they use standard chin strap split pins ?

Greetings Again

Thanks for the feed back, I'll see if I can post more pic's tomorrow, and mauser99 it appears to my eyes to be standard chin strap split pins. M45 what do you mean by Ed Strache?

Thanks again.

Ed Strache was one firm that produced decals for helmets. Each firm's decals were slightly different and can usually be identified.

Neat helmet BTW. I have not seen one of these before.
