Greetings

I just picked up this single decal M35 camo, it is manufactured by ET "Eisenhüttenwerke" size 68 and the liner is dated 1937. I have a few questions, could anyone tell me the threader this camo pattern is from, also is that a roster number on the rear rim of the helmet? Finally I believe there is some apple green paint pocking through, can anyone else see it?

Thanks

better photos are a must.. Looks like it could depot repaint and then overpainted. The liner band markings trouble me. Also the numbers on the skirt could be a feldpost # ? Not 1oo% sure.

Can do,This pic is from the left side and reads 68 n.A./60. What do you not like about the band mauser99?

What M99 said, except too many numbers for Feldpost. It's a standard early M.35 overpaint. The parade finish green on the early M.35s would shine and the national colors shield was a nice target, so the order came down in 1940 that was to be painted over with a rough finish feldgrau. That's why so many of these exist and so few M.35s in their original finish exist. The liner band is bent up and shows tampering and removal atypical of the care of a regular rework. My guess is the liner band has been messed with at some point by some kid or bozo. That's not unusual. It's a neat old vet in any event Fuzzy.

Nice helmet!

Feldpost number have 5 digits, they can start with a zero.

Cheers,
Peter

Thanks for all the information guys, I do realize that the helmet was most likely depot re-painted. Then later in its life it was painted with a brush for the purpose of camouflaging it. I do stay away from helmets that have liners that have been tampered with, in-regards to this helmet, I feel its been with it all the time. The liner year is right, the liner rivets are nice and tight and have the same layers of paint as the rest of the helmet. To the point, could 24/05/24 be 24/May/1924 the soldiers birthday, has anyone seen this before?

These depot overpaints were mostly brush overpainted. I like them. The numbers in the skirt could be a "disguised" FPN, who knows. Never seen a birthday in one. Seen plenty names though.

No really, wasn't trying to be a cheeky monkey, I really have never seen a birthday. That would not be something that would be done when a name would suffice.

If it is a FPN with a number added for security that could make sense. Take one of those away and you have a 5 digit nr.

Feldpostnummer have five digits not six.
There can be a letter infront, a "L" for Luftwaffe and a "M" for the Kriegsmarine.
There also can be a letter after the five digits to indicate a specific company or battery.

So the six digit number isn't a fieldpost number.
What is it?
- I have no clue.
