G-41 find (updated pics)

My Clenzoil finally got here yesterday so I wanted to provide some updated pics. I field stripped the rifle to take some before and after pics. Note the Durofol hand guard has damage to the rear portion and although it has some movement, its still secure. Interestingly, it looks like the stock was stained after it was assembled as there is no stain under the bands. I did my best to keep all oil off the stock during the cleaning process. The rifle shows evidence of having been fired very little with only a slight primer ring on bolt face. Bore cleaned up to shiny and only a little corrosion on the piston. I don't think this one saw much actual field use prior to it's capture. One pic shows it with some old friends. Only thing added was the pictured sling. I can't see where it ever had a sight hood installed. Thanks again for the Clenzoil tip!

Nice family shot

That is a beautiful G-41. Please take some nice pics outside in the shade... would love to see more of it..

Awesome group! Some rare birds in there and all in nice condition.
The G41 looks great. It is going to be hard to improve on.

Slightly off topic: Another idea for taking pics. Lots of people use white backgrounds for contrast, but unless you have serious camera a lighting set-up, most will actually loose details from washout.
Try a neutral dark grey or tan to get finer detail. Natural light, as mentioned earlier, is the easiest way to minimize glare. Combine that with a dark grey background and you can save a lot of $ on high end camera gear. Even indoors with fluorescent lights you can get details on a dark background with an iPhone camera. Thanks for the pic tips. I will definitely try your suggestions. Outside pics will have to wait until these nasty snow storms go away!

That will work perfect as I have a stack of the Army O.D. wool blankets in the garage! I think I've still got a old gray Bundeswehr one too.
