I picked up another G43 two weeks ago from Gun Broker It's a AC44 b block. The good 1.Stock was not sanded 2. It's an all matching Gun 3. Bore is bright with good rifling. 4. It came with 5 Mags 5. It came with capture papers.
The bad 1. stock was covered with some type of varnish 2. rifle was missing the sight hood/ Sling/ Cleaning rod and cleaning rod grommet 3. light surface rust on the right side of the receiver/ scope mt./ bolt carrier. 4. Gas piston rusted and pitted./ gas cylinder frozen to gas port. 5. top of stock butt cap rusted. 6. Entire Rifle was very dirty (carbon fouling) previous owner shot the rifle with corrosive ammo and from what I can see never cleaned it.
I had all of this resolved in under 24 hours. 1. stock- gently removed Varnish (no harsh chemicals or scrubbing and or cleaning) Found a beautiful un-sanded original German finish underneath. Applied one application of Howard's feed and Wax, done 2. Gun- removed surface Rust with Blue wonder, Bronze wool and CLP. Unstuck the Gas cylinder with Kroil and small rubber mallet/ removed Rust and carbon fouling from Gas piston (may replace this with one of Rob's Kits)
Cleaned entire gun with hoppe's#9, CLP and used Birchwood Casey Barricade on all exterior metal surface-es (excellent product to prevent rust)
Done and here it is, a nice mid production Walther.
