Sling ID - WW1 Ersatz Kar98a or What?

Any help in an ID on this would be appreciated. Came on K98k I bought last year. Thanks, Bruce. The length is same as K98k sling.

I guess it is possible, very few are known, I have only seen two good examples in collectors hands, one Jeff Noll owns, the other is in Germany, both are the same and differ from this example. (though it has some similarities)

A 98a sling should be 15/16 inches wide, 53-56 inches long, and have 9 adjustment holes.

Here is a picture of one in use, something nearly as difficult to find as the slings. They were only used late in the war, not early like the Gewehr98's ersatz slings, which have early & late variations. Late slings use a combination of leather & canvas, like yours but the pattern on yours is quite different, as is the m-buckle. Yours looked like it is missing some of the leather part? How many holes are in the leather?
