Nice Intact example

I was watching that with interest. Price not bad considering all there and the tag.

I can't even venture a wild guess on the number, perhaps others here can.

GOOD COLLECTING!!!

I'll take a stab at this; no guarantees of correctness...

I apologize in advance for my ignorance on the subject of HJ, but my research in this area has been minimal; primarily trying to decipher the markings on my own rifle. So, please correct any misinformation I may have here.

My understanding on the number 7/98, if in fact this is an HJ marking, is that the “7” would be the “Gefolgschaft” (Unit?) and the “98” would be the “Bann”. It is also my understanding that the Bann numbers may not have always remained the same over the years, so sometimes the year of the item needed to be known to determine where a particular Bann was located.

If I am not erring terribly here, then this would be from Kinzigtal, in Gebiete (Region? Provence?) Hessen-Nassau, (#13).

thanks, I appreciate any insight given. This rifle would date from the 34/35 period. Most of these 625b's ive seen have been stamped with the s/a gruppe Kurpfalz stamp. So if it had that band along with the tag it would make it a lot easier to trace. Just the tag makes it very hard to figure out who owned it.

M 99 I agree on the Kurpfalz markings on the 625b's, here is mine. I have seen a few others with the same marking since I got this one.

Ive never gotten deep into serial ranges with these to narrow down a S/A marked range and Im sure there is a purchase factor and serial block that these fall into.. Like the s/a marked gustloff kkw's.

I have a Deutsches Sportmodell 34 without any markings from a NS organization. But perhaps it was used also in HJ or SA.

In a German HJ manual (1939) you find that the DSM 34 is the weapon for the training. But sure they used also other types and later the KKW.
