1916 VCS w/rare Emil Klinger action cover

Thought I'd share this one I picked up cheap in '05. All matching, not dinked with, ratty sling, & has the rare action cover. The ad for this cover appears in "Rifle and carbine 98" by Dieter Storz. The cover is missing the straps but was tweaked so that it fit snug on the action without straps.

Great Rifle, a real time capsule. Just the way you want to find them. I have never seen one with the action cover. Plus original sling and matching numbered rod. And a not too common maker. Congratulations.

Very Nice!
Never seen a c/RC stamp on the stock before!

Almost all Klinger action covers I've seen so far are missing the straps.
My Klinger cover came with an Amberg out of GB some years ago.

You have to love the receiver markings, they are sharp and clear - super nice! Neat that you found it with so many original components too..

I would say something on rarity, but one could say anything about any rifle maker and Mike probably has one to pull out. So Mike, have you every wartime maker-date yet?

Paul, no, not hardly. 46 G98's, 2 safes full, if one comes in, another has to leave...not going to get another safe. I have managed to outfit the herd with original slings & lids over the years...

Haenel has been the elusive one. I've had 2 but one was too m/m and another had a sanded stock (yuck) so they were soon sold off. I've got 2 nice matching '16 WOKs, need to try to swap one for a similar condition Haenel.

IMHO, the action cover would have worked well without the straps. Mine had the sides slightly bent in to where it slides on easily, holds, easy pulled off.

I believe I've got photos of most of the gewehrs. I'll start posting their pics occasionally for our G98 enthusiasts.

Only 46, you've been a slacker!

You do seem to have a good system, probably ideal for a collector, though it must cause a dilemma everytime you have to upgrade, deciding which is the lesser of the two rifles.

I am sure everyone would like very much to see your collection, I have many of your rifles recorded, but many were before you upgraded your camera and some were lower resolution images, for instance this one I had, but the pictures were not this nice. Lower resolution pictures in this case, - the same pictures but smaller

Can't seem to stop coming back to this thread to check out this VCS. What a beauty! I definitely second Loewe's call to see more of yours.

Great Schilling, FM. Such crisp marks throughout. And the cover is excellent, I haven't seen one outside Dr. Storz.

Looking forward to seeing some more of your collection!
