"M" marking on ZF41

Hello

I found this "M" under a ZF41. See third picture. Maybe it's a stupid question but does anyone can tell me what it means ?
I tried to remove the small sunshade to see the serial number but it's stuck.

Thank you for your answers. I didn't know it was an unknown marking.
I'll try to remove the sunshade to see the serial number but I don't want to damage it.

I have just successfully removed the ocular sunshade without damage and there is no serial there either. So there is no serial at all on this scope.

Now I can see that the ocular seems shorter than other ZF41 ocular pieces. I saw that on another "M" marked ZF41. Would there be a link between this "M" and the shorter ocular ? When I look through the scope, it seems this ZF41 was made for a shorter space between the ocular and the eye.

Here are some pictures of another "M" marked ZF41 (not from me):

Hello
I heard this modification (and the marking M applied) were done for French MAS automatic rifles in 1950s.
I am thinking this is the correct answer.
