I like these knives as well. The maker is Heinrich Kaufmann & Söhne KG of Solingen also known as India-Werke. Mercator is one of their trademarks. ...

They don't show up often in ANY neck of the woods. Staatliche finished somewhere less than 20,000 pieces in 1941 after occupying the facility. Love...

ugafx4 - Your knife is an original Luftwaffen-Kampfmesser. The S is a late war acceptance stamping not a maker's mark. Possibly a later replacement...
